TT Livescan is the culmination of an 11 year project involving malware detection. Shortly after a massive code rewrite (we felt that the software was becoming a bit too bloated for its own good), the name was transitioned from VTE Virus Scanner to TT Livescan. Even during this time, there were two major code revisions aimed at adding new features while simultaneously reducing as many lines of new and existing code as possible.
We primarily make use of google's malware blacklist and clamav.net's md5 databases, but we also actively search and use any malware datasets that are published or made available to the public in any way, shape or form. The malware scanning engine also implements the following databases:
The combined size of all 8 databases is approximately 14GB in size with over 120 million definitions. If you have another malware scanner installed on your computer, TT Livescan will detect it and ask you if you would like to use it as a plug-in.
