TT Livescan & TT Livescan Pro FAQ List

Welcome to the FAQ List for TT Livescan & TT Livescan Pro. Here is where we will address frequently asked questions.

Why is TT Livescan so small compared to other security programs? This is actually a misconception. Yes, the front-end interface(s) of TT Livescan and TT Livescan Pro are small (less than 5MB in size), and the reason for this is coding efficiency. However, the databases that TT Livescan implements are over 14GB in size, and contain over 120 million definitions. While this is an obscene number and size, it also illustrates how comprehensive our databases are. Not to worry, though, most users will never consume more than 20-30MB per scan.

I've never heard of TT Livescan, how do I know it's legit? TT Livescan has been ongoing for over a decade. It was previously called VTE Virus Scanner. Due to the massive restructuring of code, data and detection algorithms, the name was changed approximately 5 years ago. Also, check out the downloads and affiliates page.

Are there any special requirements to run TT Livescan? Yes, you will need the VB6 Runtime Pack, along with MSInet.ocx and Richtx32.ocx. The two OCX files can be dumped into windows/system32/ folder with little to no problem. If a problem does arise when registering ocx files, Microsoft has a support guide detailing manual ocx installation. You will also need to download and install WinRAR in order to extract the archives.

Why don't you include the runtime files with TT Livescan? Most people already have these files on their system. We also do this as a safety measure on our part.

Why is TT Livescan written in VB6, instead of another programming language? VB6 is still widely used, just like most other programming languages. In terms of development, VB6 is geared towards rapid GUI development. Combined with the fact that most of our coding is designed to be as efficient as possible, VB6 is the best option. Shortly before 32-bit support is to be phased out for Windows, we will make a new version available. It will most likely be written in Delphi.

Do I need an internet connection to run TT Livescan? If you plan to scan for malware, yes. A DSL/Broadband connection or better is recommended for a decent scantime. Dialup and satellite internet will work, but we recommend neither.

How fast are scantimes? The scantimes are limited only by internet latency and the speed of your computer's hardware. The following averages are based on default scan settings. Depending on what options you choose, the scantimes will either be more or less. With a DSL/Broadband connection, scantimes will be about 5-10 minutes. If you're using dialup, expect about 10-15 minutes. If you're using satellite, expect anywhere from 20-35 minutes.

What versions of Windows will TT Livescan run under? Windows 98 through Windows 7.

Is there a refund policy? If TT Livescan Pro will not run on your computer under any circumstance, even after extensive technical support, we will refund the $35 you paid. However, keep in mind that the license key that was originally purchased will be permanently deactivated.

How many computers can I install TT Livescan Pro on? As many as you personally own. However, this does not mean that you can give away your license key to everyone. We keep track of server access. If we have reason to believe that your license key has been shared, we will temporarily deactivate your license key and send you notification until the matter is resolved. In the event of shared registration, the license key will be permanently deactived, and no refund will be issued. In the event of compromised license key, the compromised license key will be permanently deactivated, and a new one will be issued free of charge.
